Jodekongen and Jodejuvet canyon

Hiking destination with spectacular views: In the mountains just east of the farm Leidå in Årdal, you will find a very narrow canyon, and right in the middle of the canyon lives the famous Jodekongen (Jotun King).

Jodejuvet (Jotun Canyon) is deep, with steep rocks on both sides, so you must be very cautious.

Jodekongen was a large and majestic troll king who was often invited to parties with other trolls. Once, when he was returning home from a festive gathering in Trodla-Tysdal, he took too long, and just as he was about to slip into Jodejuvet, the sun rose, and he turned into stone.

The easiest way to get here is from Songesandvegen. Park near Livastølmyrane and follow the marked hiking trail from the two outbuildings on the left side of the road.
